£2.5 Million Sales At Manchester Show Give Swift A Positive Start to 2010
Published January 2010
Demand for caravan holidays in the UK remains strong with the Swift Group, Britain’s largest caravan and Motorhome manufacturer recording sales of
over £2.5 million in just four days at the Manchester Central Caravan and Motorhome Show.

The company, which recorded record sales in excess of £20 million at the NEC in October, shrugged off fears that the increase in VAT at the beginning
of January would dent the resurgence of Britain’s love affair with caravanning by recording sales slightly ahead of last year.

Boosted by record crowds on the last 2 days of the show, Manchester Central is an early barometer of how the year will progress, and with demand for
the company’s caravans and motorhomes almost back to pre recession levels there are clear indications that many people are ditching plans for euro
based holidays and returning to lifestyle holidays at home.

“Sales in the last quarter of 2009 were tremendous but we thought much of this was due to people buying prior to the increase in VAT. With January
sales bucking the weather and VAT increase and with clear indications of the family buyer returning to the market demand now looks even more
positive for 2010,” Swift Group Commercial Director Nick Page commented.
